Summer has gone, and the "busyness" of everyday life appears to be subsiding a little. As a result, I have had time to make a small addition to the Classic ACW collection in the form of these lovely Jacklex rebel cavalry.
Lead by "Sir" these Kentucky boys are on the move and looking for trouble.
There are a lot more ACW goodies coming in both 20 and 28mm. Including some lovely vintage 20mm Zouaves.
I must admit I do like the old Jacklex figures they have more 'presence' than a lot of modern ones.
ReplyDeleteI agree. They are more proportionate than the modern "big heads" and therefore more agreeable to the older eye, methinks!
DeleteLovely job Matt - the Jacklex boys are great - no gnome-like proportions - even the horses are elegant. As a lifelong oaf, I've always been very taken with elegance!
ReplyDeleteI think you have hit the spot here with the word "elegance". Just about sums them up really.
DeleteThese are charming, but then as a new convert to vintage 20mil I'm probably a zealot. Either way I do think 20mm is a more sensible scale for ACW.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the madness of collecting vintage 20mil...it is very satisfying!
DeleteA fine looking unit you have done the figures justice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, these old timers still hold their own in this modern world.
DeleteYou really have a way with these Jacklex figures Matt, wonderful work. I'm looking forward to seeing the HH Zouaves!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ian. I have been busy with file and scalpel this afternoon with the Zombie Zouaves!
DeleteLovely toys Matt…
ReplyDeleteI really must get more of mine painted.
All the best. Aly
Thanks....and yes you must!
DeleteThey are lovely and you've painted them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteKentucky, eh? That's got to be Colonel Sanders in the front then, surely.
A much younger Colonel Sanders! Or Gr Gr Grandpappy?
