Forming part of Jackson's Brigade, the 33rd Virginia Regiment still wore their pre-war militia blue uniform coats at First Bull Run.
Commanded by Colonel Arthur Cummings, they were able to advance on Henry Hill after being mistaken for promised reinforcements, before unleashing a close range volley and overrunning the Federal artillery.
Despite furious counterattacks Jackson's brigade, including the 33rd, held onto the position and the Federal forces eventually broke and ran.
I think therefore they deserve a place in the First Bull Run collection.

Options being, fool the Federals and get up close, getting rumbled, having your own side open up on you or a stand off with both sides opening up simultaneously?
Like that - the 'blue coat surprise' has to work both ways!
