The 33rd Virginia Regiment wore their pre-war militia blue uniform coats at First Bull Run and formed part of Jackson's Brigade.
Commanded by Colonel Arthur Cummings they were able to advance on Henry Hill after being mistaken for promised reinforcements, before unleashing a close range volley and overrunning the Federal artillery.
Despite furious counterattacks Jackson's brigade held onto the position and the Federal forces eventually broke and ran.
I think therefore they deserve a place in the First Bull Run collection.
Perry figures with Virginia State flag from GMB.
Next up, more Federal infantry types.
